Dr Webb has been teaching medical students since 1996 and always says that he learns as much from the students as he is able to teach. We believe this improves the standard of care we are able to provide to our patients and contributes to the next generation of doctors. Molly Li spent five weeks at Charlton Medical at the beginning of 2022. Here is her letter to us all:
Dear Charlton Medical & Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my immense gratitude to everyone who has made this placement special & the wonderful experience that it has been. From the moment I arrived in Charlton, I felt welcomed and supported – by the wonderful staff as well as everyone in this community.
Dr Webb has been an extremely patient, wise and interesting mentor. His dedication to the practice, his staff and most importantly all the patients is incredibly inspiring. The many many funny stories and analogies up his sleeve have not only allowed a laugh to be shared but have also empowered the patients to have a clearer understanding of their conditions.
I have been fortunate enough to have been able to assist in a couple of minor surgeries and procedures with Dr Webb. I progressed from feeling faint halfway through the first one to doing punch biopsies and sutures on my own! It was particularly interesting to see and assist in the removal of a skin lesion with a ‘modified rotational flap’. The neat little question mark scar it leaves behind is just incredible. It was a moment of a full circle when I was able to remove the sutures 5 days later, some of which I had put in myself! *
All the staff I have come across here at Charlton Medical and also at East Wimmera have been incredibly warm, helpful, and supportive! To Jeanne, Reece, Julie, Jenny, Lynne, Kylie, Hayley, Jemimah and Anne, I thank you for taking me under your wing and looking after me. It made a huge difference and allowed me to settle in and feel comfortable.
Last but not least, to the entire community here – thank you for welcoming, trusting and allowing me to consult with/examine you! Not once did anyone decline to see me or let me have a prod around. I appreciate all the patience and kindness you have shown me and I will remember all the wonderful stories you have shared with me!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I wish you a beautiful & pleasant day 😊
Molly
